Outreach Ministries

Each outreach ministry at St. Mark’s is chosen because it reaches ‘out’ to our undeserved and marginalized neighbors in Marco Island, the Greater Naples area and beyond. We try to follow Jesus’ command to care for the hungry, homeless, and others in need; always striving to love our neighbors as ourselves. All of these ministries are supported through your annual pledge to our Operating Budget.

Want to Volunteer? Call our church office and they will provide you with ministry contact information.
St. Mark’s Preschool
Our school is a Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) that receives state funding for early childhood education. Many families in our area need financial assistance (which VPK provides) to give their children a great start with their education. Our preschool ensures that students are ready for Kindergarten at Tommy Barfield Elementary and beyond. St. Mark’s provides scholarships for families to supplement the cost of what the school receives from the state for each child in need. Link to the Preschool’s website HERE.
Manatee Middle School Media Center
St. Mark’s is partnering with the Media Center at MMS to enhance programs that encourage reading and the development of leadership skills (like the Girls Up summer reading program). We support these MMS programs with financial aid and volunteers.
Neighborhood Ministries
The people of St. Marks purchase and wrap Christmas gifts for families in our preschool and neighborhood who need help during the holidays. Parents fill our a form with a Christmas list, including sizes etc. Once gifts are ready, parents pick them up and save them until Christmas Morning. All purchases are made by our youth group with generous donations from our parishioners from our Angel Tree.

Alberque El Buen Samaritano – Shelter of the Good Samaritan
Partnering with the other Naples-area Episcopal Churches, St. Mark’s supports the children’s shelter, preschool and kindergarten in the barrio of San Francisco de Macoris in the Dominican Republic. The shelter serves about 148 children who would be on the street during the day if the shelter did not exist.
Camp Marco
After many successful years of sponsoring Camp Able on our campus, we are trying something new. Camp Marco will kick off in the summer of 2020 with the mission of serving 4th, 5th and 6th graders who have mental health challenges. We are building this new ministry in partnership with The David Lawrence Center in Collier County. The camp will focus on building mental, emotional and spiritual health.

This class is sponsored by St. Mark’s for Spanish speakers who want to improve their spoken English. The class takes place each Sunday during our Sunday school hour so that parents with young children can send their children to God’s Kidz while they converse as a group. This ministry is led by volunteers from the parish.
